A delicious and meatless buffalo wings! You don’t need chicken wings to make a buffalo wings dish like this and you only need to use fried tofu. If you want to go meatless, I’m sure you are going to love this dish. Since the buffalo wings sauce in this recipe has catsup, it is a little sweet which I think is perfect for the Pinoy palate. If you want it much sweeter, you can add brown sugar or honey.
Fried Tofu Buffalo Wings Style

Ingredients
- 1 block firm tofu
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 1 cup Japanese Breadcrumbs or Panko Breadcrumbs
- 1 pc egg beaten
- salt and pepper to taste
- cooking oil for deep frying
For the sauce:
- 1/2 cup banana ketcchup
- 1/8 cup chili hot sauce
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 Tbsp. calamansi juice or lemon juice
Instructions
Fried Tofu Buffalo Wings Style
- Slice the tofu into 1/2" x 1/2 " thick into sticks. Then dip in cornstarch first then dip in beaten eggs and roll in bread crumbs pressing the sides gently to help the breadcrumbs stick on the tofu.
- In a deep pan, heat cooking oil deep enough to deep fry the tofu. Fry the tofu until golden brown.
- Remove from the oil and put in colander to drain excess oil. Set aside.
- In an empty pan or wok, heat butter until melted and saute garlic until fragrant. Then add ketchup, hot sauce and calamansi juice.
- Stir until the ingredients are well mixed. Simmer for a minute and add in the fried tofu. Toss the tofu until well coated with the sauce.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
